This month marks one of the most important moments in the ICAS Foundation calendar.

Following this year’s Bursary Committee, 50 students have been selected to receive an ICAS Foundation support, taking them one step closer to joining the programme later this year.

The decisions follow months of applications, interviews and careful consideration. This year, 173 students applied, with 77 invited to interview before the final selection of students who will be offered Foundation support.

Every place represents an investment in potential.

These are talented young people who have demonstrated the ability to succeed in accountancy, but who may not otherwise have access to the financial support, professional networks or opportunities that many of their peers take for granted.

An ICAS Foundation bursary is about much more than financial support. Students join programme which aims to support them through to the completion of their studies, including mentoring from a Chartered Accountant, access to internships and work experience, careers guidance, networking opportunities and ongoing support throughout college or university and into employment.

This is what makes the Foundation different. We don’t simply help students get to university - we help them build successful careers in the profession.

“Every year, we’re inspired by the calibre of the students who apply. The talent is there; our role is to help ensure background isn’t the reason that talent goes unrealised. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, mentors and partners, these students will have the support, opportunities and encouragement to fulfil their potential and, in time, strengthen the profession themselves.”

Sanjay Singh, Managing Director, ICAS Foundation

“I’m always impressed by the initiative students show, often while balancing significant challenges. There are so many talented young people already doing everything they can with the opportunities they have. Sometimes they just need someone to open that door a little wider.”

Amy Vincent, Student Assessment Panel Member

The Foundation supports students throughout one of the most important periods of their lives, helping them develop the confidence, skills and professional connections to thrive.

As we prepare to welcome our newest cohort, we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who makes this possible.

Could you help shape the next generation?

Every Foundation student is matched with an experienced mentor from the accountancy or finance profession, who provides encouragement, perspective and practical guidance throughout their academic journey.

If you’re an experienced accountancy or finance professional and would like to help a talented young person take the next step in their career, we’d love to hear from you.
