From internship to graduate career - four Foundation students join Johnston Carmichael
Four ICAS Foundation students are taking the next step in their careers this summer, joining Johnston Carmichael as graduate trainees.
Islay Sutherland, Dean Bastien, Katie Farley and Emma Savage have all previously spent time with the firm through internships or placements. Now they’re returning to begin their careers - and their Chartered Accountant training.
It’s the largest number of students recruited by any ICAS Foundation employer partner from this year’s graduate cohort.
For Dean, who recently graduated with a First-Class Honours degree in Accounting and Finance, a summer internship gave him the chance to experience life in audit first-hand.
“My internship with Johnston Carmichael provided me with first-hand experience in audit, exposure to a wide range of clients and industries, and confirmed that it was the career path I wanted to pursue.
“Being trusted with meaningful work made the transition from university to professional life both rewarding and enjoyable. I’m delighted to be returning to Johnston Carmichael as an Audit Graduate.”
Johnston Carmichael has been a national employer partner of the ICAS Foundation since 2023, providing financial support as well as internships, placements, insight opportunities and mentors.
